Default Can't install VS 2005 Pro. instmsiW.exe

Hello,

I am trying to install VS 2005 on a laptop. The laptop is currently running VS 2003, and needs to continue. My OS is WinXP Pro.

I get the error:

Error 1305.Error reading from file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\Bootstrapper\Packages\InstMSI\instmsiW. exe. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

I am able to browse to this file and verify that it is there. I have installed on a desktop with this media to prove the CD's are OK. I went to Add/Remove and Program Files, don't think there is any other install of 2005. There is of 2003.

What should I do?

Hi

Make sure you have full permissions on the specified path (Try to rename the file). If this does not help then Clean boot your computer and then run the setup.

Following link has information for similar error on older Windows, but some solutions might be helpful in XP also.
