Help on Business Intelligence Development studio

    Hi

I can not see this question posted previously so I hope someone can help.

We have our SQL Server with BID's installed on our main database server. If I log on to that machine I can then use the Business Intelligence Development Studion to create new reports etc.

However, Id like to install the development stuido - or at least the ability to use BIDs on my own PC which already has Visual Studio 2008 installed.

I dont seem to be able to find anything anwhere about doing this - except for being told to install SQL Server 2008 on my local machine too - surely this is not necesary??

    Can anyone advise?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Ian

You run the normal SQL Server installer and then select just the development tools when asked which components to install. You can point it to an SSRS instance on a network server for developing server reports. BIDS will integrate into your existing VS 2008 installation.

You may just want to check the license terms to make sure that you're allowed to install BIDS on multiple machines that way.
