Default XIRR in VB.net

I am using VS 2005. I have created a reference to Excel in my VB code and can access the Excel 'worksheetfunction'. however the XIRR function is not listed even though it is available in my version of Excel when I add the Add-in 'Analysis Toolpak'. Do I have to create a reference to this Add-in in my VB? If so how? Can anyone help please.
