I am trying to fill a s/w developer position in Carson City, Nevada at the Department of Public Safety and am hoping this forum could be a useful source of qualified applicants and/or referrals.
Here is the skinny on the position:
The Records and Technology Division of DPS is looking for an experienced, journey level, Applications Developer to be a part of their technology family. The Technology Bureau supports law enforcement statewide by writing and maintaining applications involving areas such as sex offenders, wanted persons, parole violations, protection orders, and many others. Our team helps protect the public from harm by providing critical information to all manner of law enforcement agencies across the state and across the country.
You will need to possess journey level competency in identifying user requirements, developing, implementing, maintaining and modifying programming code. You will be actively involved with design, coding, testing as well as documentation. This position requires competency programming in the Visual Studio environment using VB.NET and/or ASP.NET; writing Oracle functions, stored procedures and SQL, PL/SQL; writing Web Services and experience with XML/XSLT.
The minimum requirements are a related Bachelors degree plus two years of experience. Without a degree, four years is acceptable.
