Holy moly! FreeDB shut down!

OK, I'm posting this here because I cant actually see a forum that is just for general development discussion, chat for developers that is about developing software, but not necesarily vb.net etc..

Just a heads up if you want to start writing any software that accesses FreeDB.. It's gone and the domain is up for sale! What a shame!


I wonder if the community will be able to save it?

2 million user-submitted CD/albums in a database - not available because there was a bit of a spat with some developer in australia who was taking a bit of a long time to deliver a new server software to try and overcome some problem.. I'm shocked that they didnt make it an open source development from the start...
