I'm a newbie and I just finished a visual basic course. I enjoyed developing mini programs but I am woundering how much visual basic is used in the real world. My question is what do you guys use visual basic for? Do major software developers use visual basic to write programs? Is it mainly used to code functions in Microsoft Programs? Is it worth taking advanced courses to master the software if you are looking to develop programs for small business? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Yep, the State of Michigan (government) uses both vb.net and c#, mainly webapps but a few desktop apps as well. Most of the apps are public facing too.
