VS 2005 Install failure

Install step 1 fails (freezes) after progress bar fills, machine says "Current component is installing."

I have 3 DVD set for the Beta 2 and I have successfully installed VS 2005 on my laptop. Using same DVD set on new computer (Pentium D, 1 GB RAM, XP Media Center PD op system.) install fails on step 1: Installing .NET Framework 2.0 Beta2. Machine freezes after progress bar fills. (waited > 1 hour).

Error log says: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta 2: [2] Error code 4101 for this component means "Baseline failed. Please check dotnetfx.log in the temp directory for details."

Error log also says: setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent::Fre/Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InstallManagerHelper() with HRESULT - 2147023293.

Error log also says: setup.exe: [2] Component error string not specified in ISetupManger::AddToActionResultCollection()

Help. I hope that new machine with Pentium D and XP Media Center op systems are not the problems (praying). Thanks.

I'm not sure that this is right but if we know that Pentium D is EM64Technology then it must be that you also need adequate FW version:

Thanks for your reply. I will investigate the possibility that I cannot install VS 2005 Beta 2 because of the Pentium D processor.
