I am looking into the MakeCert.exe, but the documentation states -

Generates X.509 certificates for testing purposes only.

So will this make a viable cert or do you have to buy one from Verisign, or others?

Obtaining a Signed Certificate

There are a number of ways to obtain a signed certificate. For example, you can purchase one from a number of Certificate Authorities (CAs), such as Verisign, Inc. Also, can create your own certificate and have a CA sign it.

So I basically can't do this on my own.
