There were 72 sample projects just in the Express package.
Some VS editions may have samples installed locally, at \%install%\Samples\locale\
There is also a 'Samples' button in Help menu, clicking it in VB 2008 Express brought me to the link posted above.
Also don't forget, there are lots of samples in help topics and Framework documentation!
