Updating Visual Studio 2003

I have received the following message when trying to update visual studio .net 2003 on two systems.

"Microsoft Visual Studio .net 2003 set up has encountered an error while downloading required files from the Internet. Please check your internet connecting setting and try again"

Can anybody tell me how to correct this error.
